The Brockton Enterprise is reporting that long-time Rockland head football coach Ken Owen is retiring after 29 years as the Bulldogs' head coach.
Owen, 59, went 193-106-5 in his tenure with the Bulldogs, leading them to seven playoff appearances. Within that, the Bulldogs made five Super Bowl appearances, winning in 1992, 1998 and 2000.
“It’s something that was not an overnight decision,” Owen told the Enterprise's John Botelho. “You don’t make a decision like this without a few sleepless nights. There are a lot of reasons why you should go, and a lot of reasons why you should stay. Just have to trust a gut feeling that it’s time for a new voice in there."
