Boston College High offensive lineman Jack McDonald has verbally committed to the University of Virginia for the 2013 season, he just announced tonight on his Twitter account.
"Just committed to the University of Virginia!" he wrote in a tweet.
McDonald is a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 3 overall player in Massachusetts by Scouts Inc. He chose the Cavaliers over Boston College and North Carolina, but also had offers from Miami, Maryland, UMass, UConn and Duke.
Scouts Inc. has a full evaluation of McDonald that you can find HERE. Below is an excerpt:
McDonald is very efficient when pass blocking; has the size and athleticism for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition however there is the need to improve explosion and upper body playing strength. His frame appears capable of supporting additional body mass over time. Playing out of a three point stance, we see good flexibility, agility and balance; demonstrates the ability to play on his feet in space while showing he can adjust to handle quick change of direction movement; displays the mobility to operate successfully in a tight box. When run blocking we see a lineman who comes off the ball aggressively but lacks the explosive pop and surge necessary to consistently knock defenders off the line of scrimmage; wins the battles using his foot quickness to establish and maintain an advantage; blocks with a flat back and solid base. This prospect runs well and is quick releasing to linebackers; flashes the ability to reach for leverage while showing the athleticism needed to consistently get a hat on active 1st and 2nd level defenders. This guy is a tough, consistent finisher.
