Summer programming note

With the release of the final lacrosse polls today, we have officially put a close on the 2011-12 season of MIAA athletics. With the action dying down the next six weeks, we'll be on this blog periodically, but be sure to stick with us for

Our popular "Roundtable" series will have several installments throughout the summer, with our first one coming this Friday. To whet your football appetite, ESPN Boston High Schools editors Brendan Hall and Scott Barboza will be discussing the top storylines to watch for the upcoming season, as well as some early predictions. Also look for installments of our "Player Perspective" and "New England Roots" series throughout the next six weeks.

On August 20, the first day of MIAA-sanctioned fall practices, ESPN Boston will unveil its preseason Top 25, preseason All-State Team and Mr. Football Watch List. That will officially kick off our high school coverage for the 2012-13 season.

Here are some important dates to mark down for the summer. ESPN Boston will have coverage of most of these events:

June 30 – Under Armour Northeast 7-on-7, Exeter (N.H.) High School

July 7-24 - Bay State Games (Full schedule HERE)

July 19-22 – Nike EYBL Finals, North Augusta, S.C.

July 21 – Under Armour Northeast 7-on-7, Bishop Fenwick High School

July 22 – Under Armour Northeast 7-on-7, Franklin High School

July 22 – Oak Hill Academy Skills Clinic, Harwich High School

July 24-30 – AAU Basketball Nationals, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

July 25 – Under Armour Northeast 7-on-7, Gillette Stadium

August 5-10 – Area Code Baseball Games, Long Beach, Calif.

August 13-15 - Warrior 40 lacrosse competition, Commerce City, Colo.

August 20 – First day of MIAA football practices. ESPN Boston releases Preseason MIAA Top 25 Poll, Preseason MIAA All-State, and Mr. Football Watch List.

August 23 – First day of full contact and “two-a-days”, as permitted by the MIAA.
