Former NBA player Chris Herren, author of the book "Basketball Junkie: A Memoir" and subject of the Emmy-nominated ESPN documentary "Unguarded", will visit the Boston Scholar Athletes’ (BSA) ‘Summer Zone’ program at Boston College tomorrow.
Herren, who in 2009 launched Hoop Dreams with Chris Herren, a basketball player development company that mentors young players on and off the court, is participating in the BSA’s three-day enrichment program, provided free-of-charge, for 50 Boston Public School student athletes.
As part of a free three-day program for 50 Boston Public School scholar-athletes, Chris Herren will talk about the pressures he faced as a recognized high school, college and eventually professional athlete, his struggles with addiction, and his subsequent triumph over his substance abuse.
