Blackstone Valley's Picard commits to St. Joe's

October, 26, 2012
Blackstone Valley Tech softball senior shortstop Bella Picard has committed to St. Joseph's University, her father Russell told us Thursday night.

During Picard's junior season, she led the nation in batting average, hitting an eye-popping .877 (57-for-65) in the regular season while being named an ESPN Boston All-State first team selection. A converted soccer player, Picard also tied for the state lead in home runs with 10 while driving in 43 runs for the Beavers.

She will sign a National Letter of Intent with the Hawks on Nov. 14.
