Dexter School offensive lineman James Hendren has verbally committed to Boston College, he announced on his Twitter account late this afternoon.
"Dream come true. I'm a Boston College Eagle! Offered and committed! Long time coming! So happy! #WeAreBC #Soar," he wrote in a tweet.
The 6-foot-7, 307-pound Hendren also had offers from UMass, Rutgers, Harvard, Old Dominion, Princeton and Yale.
Hendren becomes the fifth in-state pledge of head coach Steve Addazio's 2014 recruiting class. He joins Millis lineman Jon Baker, St. Sebastian's linebacker Connor Strachan, Doherty defensive back Isaac Yiadom and Roxbury Latin tight end/linebacker Kevin Cohee.
Scouts Inc. ranks Hendren as a three-star prospect. Its evaluation favors Hendren's toughness and finishing ability, but suggests he may need a little bit of time to develop, calling him "a developmental size prospect who needs time and a redshirt year to polish his technical skills prior to challenging for playing time at the major level of competition."
