St. John's Prep's Pinho drafted by Capitals

St. John's Prep center Brian Pinho was selected by the Washington Capitals 174th overall (sixth round) in tonight's NHL Draft.

The North Andover native and Providence College commit becomes the third Prep player to be drafted in as many years, joining Colin Blackwell (San Jose Sharks in 2011) and Sam Kurker (St. Louis Blues in '12).

An ESPN Boston All-State selection last season, Pinho tallied 12-24-36 totals last season for the Eagles, who were the No. 1 seed in the MIAA's Super 8 tournament.

Pinho was ranked No. 109 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting entering the Draft.
