Philips Exeter's Carey commits to UMass

Philips Exeter Class of 2014 pitcher/outfielder Hunter Carey has verbally committed to UMass, per his coach with the North East Baseball summer club, Scott Patterson.

The North Hampton, N.H. resident was one of the more productive hitters in the Central New England Prep School Baseball League, hitting .357/.456/.714 with three home runs, three triples, five doubles, 15 runs and 16 RBI. On the mound, the righty went 4-1 with a 1.28 ERA, striking out 45 batters in 43 innings.

Two other North East Baseball products, Central Catholic righthander Cam Devaney (Elon) and Alvirne (N.H.) righty Tyler Brown (Northeastern) also recent made commitments to Division 1 schools for the fall of 2014.
