Spellman's Zambello commits to Merrimack

Cardinal Spellman softball rising senior ace Courtney Zambello has committed to Merrimack College, her father tells ESPN Boston today.

Zambello, a left-hander, broke the school's single-season strikeouts record with 297 last season. She compiled a 0.93 earned run average while opponents his just .104 against the three-time Catholic Central League All-Star.

The Sharon resident also plays for the Mass Drifters Gold travel softball team.
