Outlining our football coverage this fall

The 2013 MIAA football season is finally upon us, with a number of teams across the state starting their slate tomorrow night.

Here's what you can expect on our site on a weekly basis, throughout the regular season:

Monday: Weekly Salutes

Each Monday, look for our "Mr. Football Watch", tracking the state's top contenders for our prestigious "Mr. Football" Award, given to the top overall player in Massachusetts. We will also be tracking the top five performances from the previous weekend, with the top player featured in our "Player of the Week" video.

Our statewide Top 25 football poll will be updated each and every Monday by noon throughout the regular season. In case you missed our preseason poll last month, CLICK HERE for a refresher.

Tuesday: Numbers Crunching

Confused yet by the new playoff format? Not to worry. Each Tuesday, starting in Week 3, we'll have the power rankings calculated for each district and division across the state.

Additionally, we'll be listing the state's leaders in passing, rushing and receiving each Tuesday. Coaches are encouraged to submit statistics each week to either Brendan Hall (bhall@espnboston.com) or Scott Barboza (sbarboza@espnboston.com).

Wednesday: Reports from the pitch

We will update our boys and girls soccer polls each Wednesday throughout the regular season. To see our current polls, click for BOYS and GIRLS. Also look for weekly soccer notes from correspondent Josh Perry.

Thursday: Previews and Projections

Our weekly "Game of the Week" preview show is returning today, and will be shooting from the site of our "Game of the Week". Today, we're breaking down the highly-anticipated matchup between No. 6 Springfield Central and No. 2 Everett.

Also look for our weekly podcast, as well as our full predictions on the blog.

Friday Night Frenzy

Each Friday during the regular season, be sure to follow our blog for score updates throughout the night. In addition to our customary "Scoreboard" page, this year we are adding a live chat, featuring live score updates from our writers out in the field.

Sunday Night Chat

Our popular Sunday night live chat with Brendan Hall and Scott Barboza returns, starting this Sunday night. Chats will typically begin around 8 p.m. and go for an hour, though times may vary.

Odds and Ends

Look for the return of our popular "Chalk Talk" series throughout the fall, as well as weekly football notes from Brendan Hall. Also look for our occasional "Player Perspective" and "New England Roots" series throughout the season.
