Mr. Football Watch: Regular Season Wrap-Up

THE CONTENDERS*

Troy Flutie, Sr. QB, Natick

Put up a career night in the Redhawks' 56-55 overtime thriller over Walpole, totaling 561 yards of offense and eight touchdowns. He finished the regular season with 2,595 yards of offense and 35 touchdowns.

Hayden Murphy, Sr. ATH, Barnstable

Carried 10 times for 127 yards and three scores, and also caught two passes for 15 yards, in the Red Raiders' 41-6 rout of Dartmouth that clinched another outright Old Colony League title. In six games since moving from the quarterback spot, Murphy has 882 yards of offense and 12 touchdowns, averaging 15.7 yards per catch and eight yards per touch overall.

Neil O’Connor, Sr. QB, Leominster

Ran for a touchdown, threw for two, and returned an interception for a fourth score in the Blue Devils' 41-13 rout of Shrewsbury. Through the regular season, he has 1,795 yards offense with 23 total touchdowns.

Dylan Oxsen, Sr. RB, Plymouth South

Ran for a touchdown, his 14th of the season, in the Panthers' 14-0 shutout of Falmouth for the Atlantic Coast League crown.

Mike Panepinto, Sr. RB, Needham

Ran for a school record 301 yards and six touchdowns in the Rockets' 42-28 win over Weymouth, giving them the Bay State Carey title outright.

Rufus Rushins, Jr. RB, Bishop Fenwick

Carried 11 times for 110 yards and two scores in the Crusaders' 34-6 rout of St. Mary's of Lynn, pushing the bruising back over 1,000 yards on the season and 17 rushing TDs.

Cody Williams, Sr. QB, Springfield Central

Completed 7 of 10 passes for 206 yards and four touchdowns, in the Golden Eagles' win over West Springfield

Ju’an Williams, Sr. WR, Springfield Central

Caught five passes for 163 yards and two scores, in the Eagles' win over West Side.

Isaac Yiadom, Sr. WR/DB, Doherty

Boston College commit took two direct snap "Wildcat" carries for two touchdowns from 36 and five yards, in the Highlanders' 20-19 thriller over St. Peter-Marian.

FIVE ON THE RISE

Steve Cuqua, Soph. RB, Walpole

Carried 44 times for 308 yards and six touchdowns in the Rebels' 56-55 overtime loss to rival Natick.

John Fadule, Sr. QB, Wellesley

Completed eight of 13 passes for three touchdowns, and added 104 yards and two more scores on the ground, in the Raiders' win over Milton.

Davon Jones, Jr. S, St. John’s (Shrewsbury)

Recorded 15 tackles and an interception in the Pioneers' win over Marlborough. He finishes the regular season leading the team in tackles (65), with five tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and three picks.

Nick Thyden, Sr. WR/DB, Quabbin

Came up with two interceptions in the Panthers' 27-18 win over Clinton, giving him a Central Mass.-leading six picks on the season. He also ranks among the top receivers in the state with 696 receiving yards and nine scores.

Spencer Tyler, Sr. QB, Dennis-Yarmouth

Completed 20 of 25 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns, and added 93 rushing yards on 10 carries, in the Dolphins' 40-36 nail-biter over Marshfield.
