A source told ESPNBoston.com this evening that Boston College High senior linebacker Connor Walsh has verbally committed to the University of Maine, for the fall of 2014.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Walsh started the 2013 season at defensive line, but switched to linebacker midway through the year, making himself a disruptive force at both spots as the Eagles reached the MIAA Division 1 South Final. On the season, he recorded 82 tackles (six for loss) and two interceptions, as he was named the Catholic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. As a tight end on offense, Walsh made 11 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. He was also named to ESPNBoston.com's annual All-State Team last month.

Walsh took an official visit to the Orono, Maine campus over the weekend. Another sought-after Bay State recruit, Reading quarterback Drew Belcher, also visited at the same time as Walsh, and gave a pledge to the Black Bears on Tuesday.

More details to come.
