Top MIAA hoop performances: March 6

Each and every night throughout the MIAA basketball playoff season, we will highlight the state's top performances. Here are my top performances from Thurssday night's slate of MIAA basketball state tournament play.

1. Bam Rivers, Sr. F, New Mission
Wide-bodied, 6-foot-4 pivot netted 24 points -- including his 1,000th, on a three-pointer -- and added 13 points in the Titans' 70-32 blowout of Lynn Classical in the D2 North semifinals.

2. Taj Lewis, Sr. F, Longmeadow
Filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the Lancers' 65-51 win over Pittsfield in a D2 West semifinal.

3. Amy Assad, Jr. F, Millis
Led the way with 26 points as the Mohawks downed Ayer-Shirley for the D4 Central title.

4. D.J. Scavone, Sr. G, Auburn
Went off for 25 points as the Rockets downed Greater Lowell, 59-52, in a D3 Central semifinal.

5. Diondra Woumn, Sr. G, Lynn English
Registered 21 points and seven rebounds in the Lady Bulldogs' won over Woburn in a D1 North semifinal.
