We updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 girls basketball this evening for the final time in the 2013-14 season. To view it, CLICK HERE.

For the second time in three seasons, our preseason No. 1 went wire to wire as the top team in the land. Braintree finishes exactly where it started, atop the poll, after capturing the Division 1 state championship for the first time since 2006. This marks the first time that both the boys and girls team during a sport's season have gone the entire season as No. 1 in the land. Springfield Putnam, the preseason boys No. 1, hasn't lost a game in 13 months and won its second straight D1 state title last weekend to finish atop the boys poll.

Here are the six teams that have gone wire-to-wire as No. 1 in our site's four-year history:

2011: Everett - football; Westwood - girls lacrosse
2011-12: Andover - girls basketball; Malden Catholic - boys hockey
2013-14: Putnam - boys basketball; Braintree - girls basketball
