Wednesday was an emotional day in Watertown, as mourners from across the country gathered for the funeral of Boston Fire Department Lt. Edward Walsh.

During its game against Middlesex League rival Belmont, members of the Watertown boys' lacrosse team honored the hometown hero with a makeshift tribute to Lt. Walsh with "Lt. EW" scrawled on athletic tape affixed to their helmets, along with the number "33" for Engine Company 33.

The Raiders won the game, 15-8, led by Anthony Busconi's 5-goal performance. Joey Kelland notched a hat trick while Matt Donnell (2), Jason Hughes (2), Matt Dolan and Luke Leitner also chipped in with goals.

Lt. Walsh will be laid to rest next to his father, who was a Watertown firefighter.
