Earlier today, Abington baseball coach Steve Perakslis earned his 200th career victory as the Green Wave beat South Shore League rival Norwell, 10-4.

Abington Athletic Director Peter Serino passed along this photo to share, commemorating the milestone:

Here's the official release from Serino:

Abington High School Baseball Coach Steve Perakslis earned his 200th career win as a head coach today with a 10-4 win over Norwell. Perakslis has been the head baseball coach at Abington High School for the past 13 seasons, averaging over 15 wins per year and winning 5 South Shore League Championships. His career record is now 200-92.

Perakslis took over the program in 2002 and has had the team in the tournament all but one year during his 13 year tenure. Three years after taking the job he led the Green Wave to their first of 3 South Sectional appearances under his direction. In 2009 he led the team to the school’s first State Championship during a 24-2 season. Abington has routinely found itself making deep tournament runs during the Perakslis era.

Perakslis is a constant presence in the school and Abington community; not only in baseball but all aspects of the student athletes lives. He consistently holds his student athletes accountable for their actions on the field and off. His standards of excellence contribute to the successful Green Wave Culture on the athletic fields, in the classroom and in life after AHS.
