MCI's Smith commits to Indiana St.

Maine Central Institute post-graduate shooting guard Khristian Smith has verbally committed to Indiana State for the fall of 2011.

Smith, an Indianapolis native, initially committed to Cincinnati last year during his senior season at Pike High but opted for a post-graduate season at the Pittsfield, Maine campus. He was also considering Evansville, Drake, IUPUI and Morehead State.

Scouts Inc. currently has the following evaluation on Smith:

Khristian is a 6-4 wing guard who is more of a shooting guard than small forward. He's a terrific athlete with a good skill set. He can shoot it well out to the 3-point line but really excels in the mid-range. He also is good at attacking the basket off the dribble looking to score at the rim. Khristian is a good defender because of his quickness and explosiveness and can guard multiple positions on the perimeter. He has good size for the two position.

Smith needs to add strength to his frame. He also must continue to develop his 3-point stroke.

Bottom Line:

Khristian is a good teammate and unseflish. His athleticism is what sticks out most. He should benefit greatly from a year at Prep School.
