As part of our big launch, we're getting right into it by rolling out our first Massachusetts Top 25, New England Top 10 and Massachusetts Prep Top 5 football polls.
These are the result of applying the scientific method. But instead of using fancy algorithms, we chose the simple principle of physics and classical mechanics. Or, in the case of these polls, it is the collective inertia generated by a group of the finest staff writers and correspondents from across Massachusetts and New England that we've hand-picked to participate in the polls. What you'll find today is the result of countless, seemingly endless long-ranging e-mail threads, some spirited debate and a little good-natured ribbing.
So, without further ado, we present to you the very first editions of: Massachusetts Top 25, New England Top 10 and Massachusetts Prep Top 5.
In the spirit of any good debate, we weighed carefully the merits of each team and we hope that you will find this to be a well-conceived and thorough list.
But if we're completely off base, let us know. Good, bad or indifferent, these polls will not be complete without your input, so please hit up the "Comments" tab and tell us what you really think.
