Everett native Noel commits to NC State

Milford Academy football coach Bill Chaplick confirmed reports tonight that current Falcons safety and former Everett High star Rodman Noel verbally committed to North Carolina State earlier today, for the fall of 2011.

Noel, who is doing a postgraduate year in New Berlin, N.Y., originally made a verbal commitment to Maryland back in November. That was before the university decided to terminate and buy out the remainder of then-head coach Ralph Friedgen's contract late last month, and tapped UConn head coach Randy Edsall as Friedgen's successor.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Noel was part of two Division 1 Super Bowl champion squads at Everett, alongside his older brother Jim, who is currently a defensive back at Boston College. He is also the older brother of Nerlens, a 6-foot-10 center at Tilton (N.H.) who is currently ranked by ESPN as the No. 3 overall player nationally in the Class of 2013.
