Another almost-perfect game for KP's Rico

Two days after coming within a hit batter of a perfect game, King Philip junior ace Meghan Rico was at it again this afternoon.

Rico stifled Coyle-Cassidy -- which came into the contest averaging nearly 12 runs a game -- striking out 17, walking one and allowing no hits as the Warriors cruised to a 9-0 win. In the last 14 innings, Rico has struck out 32 batters; oddly enough, both of her perfect game attempts were squandered in the leadoff of the top of the seventh inning.

"She's just as complete a pitcher as you're ever gonna see," KP head coach Jim Leonard said. "She's just hitting it at a different level right now. She's been very hard to hit, hitting it to all of spots, her velocity is just fantastic. She's really in complete command of her game. It was popping today."
