Medfield's boys lacrosse team saw its historic 119-game Tri-Valley League win streak come to an end tonight in thrilling fashion, falling to rival Hopkinton 11-10 in double overtime.
Hopkinton took a 7-4 lead headed into the break, but the Warriors stormed back to tie it at 8-8 headed into the final frame, and take a 10-9 lead before Will Valentine scored an equalizer for the Hillers with 1:33 left in regulation.
Phil Pichel then scored the winner in the second overtime, to deliver a historic win for Hopkinton, which lost 17-3 to the Warriors in their first meeting on April 14.
The upset now sets up a winner-take-all matchup Thursday between the Warriors (11-5, 9-1) and Dover-Sherborn (14-2, 10-1), the winner claiming the TVL outright. Medfield beat D-S, 8-5, in their first matchup on April 29.
