We've updated the final MIAA Baseball Top 25 Poll of the regular season, and the state's final undefeated squad -- Lexington (20-0) -- holds down the top spot for the third week in a row.
The top five remains virtually unchanged, with St. John's Prep followed by Northbridge, East Longmeadow and Plymouth North. But on the back end there is a slew of debuts and returns, most significantly Malden Catholic at No. 16. The Lancers, ranked No. 3 in ESPNBoston's preseason poll, quickly fell out of the Top 25 after starting the season 0-7. But since then, they've been arguably the hottest team in the state, going 11-2 and including wins over top-10 squads Catholic Memorial, BC High and St. John's Prep.
Wachusett (17), Central Catholic (20), St. John's of Shrewsbury (21) and Abington (24) all make returns this week, while Wellesley (22) and Middleborough (25) make their debuts.
The poll will not be updated until after the conclusion of the Divisions 1, 2 and 3 state championships, which will be held later in June.
