New Englanders rising on hoops radar

ESPN basketball recruiting analyst Adam Finkelstein checks in today from the road, where he has been covering tournaments from Boston to New Jersey, with a few thoughts on the Northeast talent as the first live period of July comes to a close.

While New London's Kris Dunn continues to wow Big East colleges, with Villanova the latest to offer, Finkelstein makes note of two risers on the recruiting trail, Marblehead's Abdul Malik-Abu and Wallingford, Conn.'s John Papale.

Abdul Malik-Abu (Marblehead, Mass./Kimball Union/Expressions Elite) landed his first high-major offer at the beginning of the period. Iowa State offered as Fred Hoiberg attempts to continue to grow his presence in the Northeast.

John Papale (Wallingford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall/New England Playaz) has played well to start the month and already claims an amazing 22 Division I offers, including UMass, Rhode Island, Fordham, and George Washington.
