A few observations from this morning's scrimmage between No. 11 Andover and Acton-Boxborough:
-- Andover senior running back Andy Coke looked like he was in mid-season form as he sliced through the Acton-Boxborough defense on his way to multiple scores in the controlled scrimmage. Coke, who looks bigger and stronger from last year also lowered his shoulders on a few occasions and ran over some would be tacklers. The senior also had the hit of the day from his safety position and proved that he was not afraid to mix it up in the box.
-- Andover junior quarterback C.J. Scarpa looked poised at quarterback for the Warriors and he benefited from some great protection on the day from his offensive line. The 5-foot-10 quarterback looked more comfortable out of the shotgun as he threw two beautiful touchdown passes on the day. He threaded the needle to 6-foot-2 junior wide receiver Will Heikkinen on the sideline for a touchdown.
-- Andover’s defense came out aggressive as linebackers Will Brown and Giovanni Rosano made their presence felt coming up with some nice sticks and did good work pursuing the football and finishing tackles throughout the morning.
-- For Acton-Boxborough senior running back Akiel Willis looked sharp on his cuts and ran strong for the Colonials on the morning. The Colonials also announced recently that they have added an additional game to their schedule. They will travel to Marshfield High School on Saturday, October 1, to take on the Rams. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
