2nd annual 'Team Molly' event this Friday

By ESPNBoston.com

On Friday, October 14th, the Needham High School Girls Volleyball program will run the 2nd annual Team Molly Ovarian Cancer Awareness Event at their home Bay State Conference match against Milton High School.

"Team Molly" is an education effort, which bears the name of a brave young woman and all-star athlete, Molly Eisenberg of Lexington, Massachusetts. In 2009, at just the age of 19, Molly lost her battle with ovarian cancer. In honor of Team Molly and in an effort to promote ovarian cancer awareness, the Varsity, JV and Freshman teams from both schools will sport teal armbands and shoelaces.

The "Teal Ribbon" is the nationally recognized ribbon color for awareness and support of Ovarian Cancer. Ovarian Cancer is a disease which education and awareness is critical for survival.

The JV (NHS A Gym) and Freshman (NHS B Gym) games will begin at 4 p.m., with the Varsity game to follow around 5:15 p.m. in the A Gym.
