The weekend that was.
Given that it’s summertime — hopefully — that meant getting around to some backyard barbecue or perhaps some beach volleyball. While school is out, there’s still plenty going on in the world of high school sports, however. And for the high school athletes out there, you realize it’s a busy time. It’s not a time to rest on one’s laurels, instead it’s a time of preparation for the seasons ahead.
Many have put their summers to good use and we’ve been trolling the net for the best and brightest there is to offer.
It’s a service we’ll aim to provide in this space every Monday, at least throughout the school year, and whenever there are noteworthy happenings to pass along. Let us work hard so that you don’t have to and enjoy the best of what was this weekend across New England.

The first-ever edition of “10 off the top”
It’s shake and bake, and they helped 10.) and 9.) Heating up some leftovers from this weekend’s Swampscott-Lynnfield 7-on-7 Shootout: This weekend's Tip of the Cap goes to Lynn English's Tyllor McDonald and Travonne Berry-Rogers, who were on opposite ends to many of the Bulldogs’ scores on Saturday. It was quite a treat watching these two consistently operate at a high level on what was a very steamy day.
Legions on the march There was plenty going down at Campanelli Stadium at the Massachusetts American Legion State Baseball Tournament over the weekend. We’ll be checking in on the action later this week, but for now, here’s a primer on the action:
