Everett's Montelus selected to Army All-American Bowl
By Brendan Hall
The 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will visit Everett High School on Thursday, October 11 at 3:45 p.m. to select offensive tackle John Montelus to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Montelus will be honored before his teammates, classmates, fans and family during an assembly.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Montelus is the No. 1 prospect in Massachusetts according to ESPNU, and was named to ESPN Boston's All-State Team last fall as the Crimson Tide captured their second straight MIAA Super Bowl championship. He committed to Notre Dame last April over nearly two dozen Division 1 FBS scholarship offers.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will be televised live on NBC, from the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday, Jan. 5 at noon.
Montelus is the first player from Massachusetts selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl since Catholic Memorial's Brennan Williams in 2009. Williams, an Easton native, currently starts at right tackle for the University of North Carolina.
