Battle for No. 1 spot in boys' soccer Top 20
So who exactly is the No. 1 team in MIAA boys' soccer?
That question became increasingly harder to answer this week, as we tapped Weymouth as our No. 1 squad in the latest ESPN Boston Top 20 poll.
However, hours after taking the No. 1 spot in this week's poll, the Wildcats were shut out against No. 6 Needham, meaning their reign could be short-lived.
Ludlow dropped from the No. 1 spot after a surprise loss to Chicopee last week. The Lions are still one of the favorites in Division 1 and stay in the Top 5 despite the defeat.
Weymouth is followed in this week's poll by Acton-Boxborough, Masconomet, and Concord-Carlisle.
Worcester North dropped a few spots after a loss to Marlborough, which enters the rankings for the first time at No. 18. Oliver Ames is on the edge at No. 20 after one-goal losses to Weymouth and Taunton.
Undefeated Winchester is making a push to be included in the Top 20 if any of the teams slip up.
