Vatrano headed to UMass-Amherst
By Scott Barboza
East Longmeadow native Frank Vatrano is headed to UMass-Amherst, the former U.S. National Team Development Program standout announced via Twitter this afternoon.
Vatrano, a 5-foot-10, 218-pound wing, had signed with Boston College last year, but wasn't accepted by the NCAA Clearinghouse, according to a report by the U.S. Hockey Report. Vatrano recently had returned to skating with the Boston Junior Bruins.
“Committed to play my college hockey at Umass Amherst [sic]," Vatrano said on his Twitter account Tuesday.
It is unknown at this time when Vatrano might join the Minutemen.
In September, Vatrano was named to the NHL Central Scouting's watch list with a C-grade.
