Smiley, Wynne, Largay commit to UMass
By Brendan Hall
Two Connecticut football prospects verbally committed today to UMass's 2014 recruiting class, on a day when the Minutemen got six commitments at its first annual meet-and-greet "Clam Bake" with over two-dozen recruits.
Pomfret School (Conn.) tight end/linebacker Josh Smiley, a Chicopee native; Greenwich (Conn.) defensive end Jack Wynne; and Granby Memorial (Conn.) Jacob Largay, all gave pledges to coach Charley Molnar this afternoon.
Bob McGovern of The Maroon Musket was the first to report of the three commitments.
The three Connecticut prospects join Dean College linebacker Jason Sylva, Dexter offensive tackle Dan DiNicola, and Bridgewater-Raritan (N.J.) defensive end Chris Carter among the six that committed today.
