I accepted the head coaching position at Methuen High School last Friday and it obviously came official today. It was a really hard decision to leave Medford High School. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have went into the program over the last 6 years when I first took the job. Prior to arriving at Medford in 2007-08 the team had not made the state tournament since 1999 and the team was coming off a 1-19 season. By the third year we were able to clinch a bid to the state tournament at 12-8. We've been able to add to the resume since by getting to the state tournament 3 out of the last 4 years. We're coming off back-back state tournament appearances and we had our first state tournament win 2 years ago. All of which were firsts since 1999. We've had 2 GBL MVP's and many players move on to play college basketball and other sports.
I've built tremendous relationships with my former players and the current players at Medford High and I will cherish those forever. My coaching staff over the years has been incredible and they deserve all the credit in the world. I've had a tremendous relationship with my athletic director Bob Maloney and he has given me and the program all the support in the world to succeed. I want to thank him and the athletic dept along with the administration and faculty at Medford. The community of Medford has been great. There will always be a special place in my heard for Medford. I'm confident that Medford will continue to steer the program in the right direction.
After coming off a 13-8 season this year I've decided to move on to Methuen High School and the Merrimack Valley Conference. I'm excited about the opportunity. I think it's a program with a lot of support and great potential. The community has great feeder programs, facilities, and they have made great steps as a school district with a beautiful newly remodeled high school and advances in technology.
