A few notes and observations about this week's poll:
BC High, D-Y make returns: Boston College High makes its return to the poll for the first time since the preseason, when they were ranked No. 19, following the Eagles' 6-0 shutout of Brockton. It was the Eagles' most impressive defensive effort to date, holding the Boxers to just 112 yards from scrimmage on the evening. They come in at No. 24 this week. Meanwhile, Dennis-Yarmouth makes its return at No. 22, following an impressive victory over No. 25 Plymouth South. The Dolphins previously entered the rankings at No. 17 following an opening-weekend beatdown of Barnstable, but quickly fell out following a loss to Plymouth North the next week.
St. John's (S) enters the Top 10: Following a 49-21 win over Nashoba, St. John's of Shrewsbury jumps into the Top 10, at No. 10, for the first time since the 2010 season. It was the most points the Pioneers have scored since a 55-30 win over cross-town rival Shrewsbury in the 2011 Division 1 Central playoffs.
As always, here's how the poll breaks down by division:
