St. John's Rosen commits to Virginia Tech
St. John's of Shrewsbury middle infielder Jake Rosen verbally committed to Virginia Tech yesterday morning, his parents Kristen and Howard Rosen told ESPNBoston.com in an email yesterday.
Rosen, a Northborough resident, was called up to the varsity midway through last spring and helped the Pioneers in their playoff run as they reached the MIAA Division 1 Central semifinals. He attended Tech's prospect camp last October, and took an unofficial visit to the Blacksburg, Va., campus last weekend.
"He thoroughly enjoyed his visit and loved the atmosphere on campus," Rosen's parents wrote. "We were all impressed with the academic side as well, the advisor assigned to the team, the academic center on campus and all that Virginia Tech offers to the student~athlete. In his time visiting Virginia Tech, Jake got to sit down with head coach Mason and was offered. After spending a week processing and discussing as a family, we are thrilled that Jake has verbally committed to one of the top programs in the ACC. Overall we feel that Virginia Tech is an amazing college with an amazing sports program."
