Filipe's intended date of arrival is for the 2016-17 or 2017-18 season.
The Lynnfield resident has eight goals and six assists for 14 points with the Lancers this season, while seeing time on their first and second lines at center and right wing. Filipe, a 1997 birthdate, was a part of MC's third straight Super 8 championship team last year as a freshman.
Filipe's father also played for the Huskies from 1978-82.
On his decision: "Northeastern has been following me for a while now. The coaching staff likes how I have developed a lot as a player in the last year and a half since they first saw me play. They feel like I have tremendous upside and can be an impact player at NU in the future. Other Hockey East teams were also interested in me, but when NU offered me it was an easy decision."
On his connection to the program: "My goal has always been to play in Hockey East and I have always dreamed about playing in the Beanpot, which is part of the reason why I believe NU will be a great fit for me. My dad was a defenseman there from 1978-1982, so we would go into Matthews Arena when I was younger to watch the Huskies play as often as we could. I look forward to making my own mark at NU, but my main focus now is helping MC win another Super 8 title."
