Matignon High School has announced Paul Greene as its next Head Coach for Varsity Softball. Greene was most recently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Arlington High School and prior to that the Assistant Coach at Emmanuel College. Greene, a Merrimack College alumnus and Woburn resident, has been the Head Coach of Tanner Pride ASA Junior Olympic Softball Team for the past 16 years. Under his leadership, he has helped place numerous female student-athletes in collegiate programs around the country. Greene's coaching accomplishments include winning the New England ASA Regional Championship in 2001 and numerous trips to ASA, NSA and FAST National Championships.
Joining Greene on his staff is Michelle Morales (Greene), Katie Davis, Lucia Reed, and Tim County.
"My incoming experienced coaching staff and myself are looking forward to continuing the Matignon softball winning tradition for the upcoming 2014 season," says Greene.
Morales was most recently the Head Coach at Arlington High and previously Head Coach at Emmanuel College. Prior to joining the staff at Emmanuel in 2008, Morales was an assistant coach at Emerson College. As a player, Morales was a four-year starting pitcher for the NCAA Division I, Crusaders of Holy Cross and is currently second all-time in career strikeouts. She was named to the Patriot League Honor Roll three times during her collegiate career. Morales's playing background includes eight years of travel ball experience playing with the Woburn Tanner Pride ASA Junior Olympic Team and four years at Woburn High School, including being named MVP of her team 3 years in a row. Coach Morales graduated from Holy Cross in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
Davis was a three-time captain of the University of Southern Maine Softball team and was First Team All-LEC. She also captained the Ice Hockey team and was a former All-Scholastic in hockey at Woburn High.
Reed is a member of the Theology department at Matignon High School and is a 2009 graduate of Union College. She was four year-letter winner in softball at Union and a former captain and Bay State Conference All Star while at Braintree High School.
County coached at Arlington High School and has coached Middle-Essex softball League Arlington U18 team. County is a resident of Arlington.
