Snapshot: This weekend's best memories, milestones

By Brendan C. Hall

It's February vacation week, which means it's holiday tournament time for many teams across the state as we draw near to next weekend's MIAA Tournament seedings. Here are some of the best moments from this past weekend.

Who can forget Brendan Durkin, Newton North's rapping team manager, who became the toast of Newton after his shot on the floor of TD Garden last month (There was also a memorable press conference). Today at the Comcast IAABO Board 27 Classic, "B-Wonder" continued his media Tour de force by dropping off autographs at the press table:

Got a signed photo from Brendan Durkin's impressive day at TD Garden. One of my best memories as a journalist.

In case you missed it, an instant classic went down Saturday night in Rockland, where Bulldogs sophomore John Furr threw up a last-second prayer in overtime for a 65-63 win over Cohasset. Correspondent John Botelho took this shot of the crowd storming the court:

Canton coach Ryan Gordy, one of the better young hoops minds south of Boston, is getting some much-deserved praise this season as the Bulldogs are off to one of their best campaigns in decades. You know you've made it big when you've got the ear of the revered Canton Junction sports pub:

Local restaurants are on the bandwagon!

Boston College held its "Junior Day" on campus this weekend for Class of 2015 recruits, and among the guests were a few Central Mass. stars -- (L to R) Shepherd Hill quarterback/defensive back Drew Jean-Guillaume and lineman Chris Lindstrom, and Auburn running back Mark Wright. In a cool touch, the three posed for a photo at the locker of old friend Isaac Yiadom of Doherty High, who enrolled early at BC after leading the Highlanders to the Division 4 state title last December.

I'll never get tired of shots of medal-winners biting their hardware:

Well done Celia! #proudayou@JenTeahan: Condrick medals in the 600m with a personal best of 1:41.86

...Though I wouldn't recommend trying to take a bite out of this:

Medfield senior forward Kristin Fechtelkotter notched her 1,000th career point today in a drubbing of Archbishop Williams, marking the first time in school history three Big Blue players have surpassed the mark in the same season.

1000 points for Kristin Fechtelkotter @ESPNBostonHS

Back to Canton, Sam Larson is the newest member of the Bulldogs' 1,000-point club:
