St. John's (S) rises to No. 2 in boys' lax poll
By Scott Barboza
After putting on an impressive display in a road victory over defending Division 1 champion Xaverian, St. John's of Shrewsbury made its move in our statewide MIAA boys' lacrosse Top 25 poll this week, as the Pioneers slide up to No. 2.
This week's ranking marks the highest-ever showing for St. John's, which remains one of two undefeated teams in the state, along with Worcester Combined.
(Editor's Note: All records are as of Monday, May 5.)
Whole lotta' shakin' goin' on: There was a sea swell of teams moving in and out of the poll this week, with four new teams making the Top 25 this week.
Archbishop Williams (No. 20) makes its first appearance in more than a calendar year, after dealing Catholic Memorial a one-goal defeat. Masconomet also enters the poll for the first time this season, checking in at No. 22.
Two programs also make their first showing in poll history, as Hamilton-Wenham debuts at No. 24 while an upstart Melrose program settles in at No. 25.
