Change at helm of Connolly basketball

By Scott Barboza

Longtime Bishop Connolly boys' basketball head coach Bill Shea has decided to step down after 21 years as the program's head and his replacement is a familiar name to South Coast basketball fans.

The program's all-time leading scorer, Matt Coute -- a 2002 graduate of the Fall River high school -- has been announced as the new head coach.

Coute, 27, has spent the last five seasons as an assistant under Charlie Dacey at Taunton and earlier was an assistant at Apponequet Regional. The Somerset native played four years at Salve Regina and finished his career as the fourth leading scorer in Seahawks history.
