ESPN RISE soccer editor Sheldon Shearer is reporting that Algonquin incoming senior Colin Sweeney committed to High Point University over the weekend.

Sweeney helped led the Tomhawks to the the Central Mass Division 1 title last fall. Sweeney plays club soccer for the New England Revolution in the US Soccer Development Academy.

Before joining the Revolution, Sweeney played for FC Blazers at the U15-17 age groups, and won a Massachusetts State Cup at U16. He was a member of the state ODP program from the U13-17 age groups, making the Region I ODP team at U16.

Shearer caught up with Sweeney about his commitment:

Other Schools Considered: Connecticut College, USD, Temple

Why High Point? "My sister currently plays for the HPU women's team. We have visited many times and watched both the men's and women's team play. It is a great school with very good soccer programs."

What did you learn about the recruiting process: "It is very important to keep in contact with the college coaches of the schools you are interested in."
