Phillips Andover's Lata commits to Colgate

Phillips Andover hockey senior forward Michael Lata has given a verbal commitment to Colgate for the 2015-16 season, head coach Dean Boylan confirmed to ESPN Boston on Tuesday.

The Toronto, Ontario native formerly attended Upper Canada College (prep) before enrolling at Andover.

Lata tallied 14 goals and 10 assists last season for the Big Blue.

"He's a big power forward who can finish and is very good in front of the net," Boylan said. "He has made tremendous strides the last two years and I believe Colgate is going to really appreciate his upside."

Phillips Andover's Light commits to Union

Phillips Andover hockey defenseman Connor Light announced his verbal commitment to Union College via his Twitter account Tuesday.

A 1995 birthdate, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound Sudbury native posted six goals and five assists in 25 games played last season.

"Connor has great size and reach, but complements that with an excellent skill set," Big Blue head coach Dean Boylan said. "He has good hands and great feel for a big man. I believe he will be a very good fit for Union."
Phillips Andover hockey center Eddie Ellis has committed to Harvard for the 2014-15 season, his coach Dean Boylan confirmed.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Burlington, Mass. native was recently drafted by Waterloo in the USHL Futures Draft. He tallied 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points last season at Phillips Andover.

"Coach [Ted] Donato will be getting an excellent hockey player for his program," Boylan said. "He will also be receiving a terrific young man. Eddie enters this season as a two-year captain for Andover, which speaks to his leadership abilities and his character. We are very proud of him."
