Dexter head coach Casey Day told the Boston area media this morning that quarterback Luke Cuneo, catalyst of the football squad that reached a NEPSAC bowl game this fall, will be heading to Furman University next fall as a preferred walk-on.
The 5-foot-7 Cuneo was named the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C Player of the Year, as well as the Evergreen League's Bonneford Division Player of the Year, after leading Dexter on an 8-1 campaign which ended in a NEPSAC bowl appearance. In nine games, Cuneo threw for 2,158 yards and accumulated 36 total touchdowns. For his career, he accumulated 75 touchdowns and 5,336 total yards.
Cuneo visited the Greenville, S.C. campus this morning, where he gave a commitment to the Paladins. He is expected to compete as a slot receiver.
Back in October, Cuneo was named ESPNBoston.com's Player of the Week after totaling 460 yards of offense and seven touchdowns in a win over Holderness (N.H.):
