On Monday, the Andover and Beverly/Danvers girls' hockey programs joined to honor a fallen member of their communities, honoring slain teacher Colleen Ritzer.
Ritzer, an Andover graduate and teacher at Danvers, was murdered in October. The game was played in her honor, with funds and donations raised going toward the establishment of the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be available to students at both Andover and Danvers High.
In the game action, the No. 10 Golden Warriors dealt No. 5 Beverly/Danvers its first loss of the season, 4-3. Jessica Leone (2 goals) and Veronica Alois (G, A) had two points apiece, while goaltender Meghan Johnson made 28 saves while taking the win in net.
Ritzer's younger sister, Laura, is a senior captain of the Golden Warriors.
