Breen, Frankenthaler make lax commitments

The Laxachusetts lacrosse club has announced two commitments from its ranks in the last 24 hours.

First, Bill Breen, a 2013 from BC High, commited to the University of Albany on Wednesday. On Thursday, 2014 defenseman Scott Frankenthaler from Roxbury Latin announced his verbal commiment to Johns Hopkins.

Breen, 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, is coming off an Eastern Mass. Division 1 Super Bowl championship as a starter on the Eagles' offensive line.

Frankenthaler recently was named to the all-star team at the Philly Showcase.

Billerica's Smith commits to UMass

Billerica lacrosse goaltender D.J. Smith has commited to UMass-Amherst today, the Laxachusetts lacrosse club reports.

The junior has started between the pipes for the Indians since his freshman year and led the team to a Division 1 semifinal appearance last season. Smith will join former Billerica teammate Grant Whiteway with the Minutemen in 2013.

Duxbury's Mullins commits to St. Lawrence

Duxbury lacrosse midfielder Cam Mullins has given a verbal commitment to playing at St. Lawrence University.

The senior was a member of the Dragons' MIAA Division 1 championship team in the spring and plays club lacrosse for Laxachusetts. Mullins is the 13th member of Duxbury's Class of 2012 to commit to a college lacrosse program.

Duxbury's Walsh commits to Fairfield

Duxbury lacrosse defenseman Jay Walsh verbally committed to play men’s lacrosse for Fairfield on Monday night, ESPN HIgh School lacrosse editor Mike Loveday reports.

The junior plays club lacrosse for Laxachusetts.

Needham's Panepinto commits to Fairfield

Needham junior Nico Panepinto has committed to playing lacrosse at Fairfield University.

The attackman was a Bay State Conference All-Star last season. Panepinto also plays club lacrosse for the Laxachusetts Minutemen and is a member of the Rockets' football team.

Billerica's Slatton commits to Union

Billerica rising senior Cam Slatton has committed to playing lacrosse at Union College.

The 5-foot-7 attack, who is also one of Nick LaSpada's top targets on the football team, was one of three Indians players to finish with more than 100 points last season.

Slatton also plays for the Laxachusetts Minutemen club lacrosse team and was a "Best of the Rest"selection on ESPN Boston's All-State team.

St. George's Devaney commits to Wesleyan

Recent St. George's graduate Niall Devaney has commited to Wesleyan for the 2012 season the Laxachusetts Minutemen lacrosse club announced.

Devaney, who took place in the recent Warrior 40 at Harvard Stadium, is an attack who will spend a postgraduate year at the Canterbury School in Connecticut this academic year. He is the ninth Laxachusetts class of 2012 player to commit to a NESCAC school this summer.

Middlesex's Gilbert-Bono commits to Williams

The Laxachusetts Minutemen lacrosse club has announced that Middlesex School midfielder Bryson Gilbert-Bono has committed to Williams.

Gilbert-Bono is the sixth Laxachusetts player to commit to a NESCAC school and is the 26th commitment from the 2012 class.

Wellesley High midfielder Oliver Saffrey (2012) has given a verbal commitment to Gettysburg while fellow rising senior Thayer Academy attack Tim Giarrusso will head to Middlebury.

Duxbury's Buron commits to Stony Brook

Duxbury rising senior Andrew Buron has committed to Stony Brook, as indicated on the Laxachusetts Minutemen lacrosse club's website.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound midfielder is a member of Laxachusetts' 2012 AA team that claimed the championship at the King of the Hill Lacrosse Tournament in Swarthmore, Penn. last month.

Buron was a part of Duxbury's eighth state championship team in the last decade this season and also was a running back/linebacker on the Dragons' Division 2A Super Bowl championship team last fall.
