NATICK, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Natick quarterback Troy Flutie has been named our Massachusetts Army National Guard Player of the Game.

This time around, Flutie helped the Redhawks to a 21-14 win over No. 5 Walpole in an important Bay State Herget game Friday night. The junior signal-caller completed 9 of 19 pass attempts for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Flutie also added 53 yards on the ground on 11 carries while scoring the game-winning touchdown in the third quarter.

Flutie has also stepped into in recent weeks, playing safety, and made his presence felt with a fourth-quarter interception to seal Natick's victory.

Editor Scott Barboza caught up with Flutie for this postgame interview:

DUXBURY, Mass. -- Saturday's Massachusetts Army National Guard Game of the Week couldn't have been contested any tighter.

With their backs against the wall, No. 4 Duxbury's defense twice delivered stops on fourth-and-goal situations inside the final three minutes of the game, preserving a 20-16 win over Xaverian. With it, the Dragons (5-0) ran their state-best winning streak to 31 games.

The game-clinching play for Duxbury was a sack by inside linebacker Marshall McCarthy as time expired on the Hawks' fourth-and-goal try from the 9-yard line. It was McCarthy's second sack of the game, after registering a strip-sack earlier in the fourth quarter. In total, McCarthy registered three tackles for a loss and a forced fumble.

For his efforts, McCarthy was named our Player of the Game:

HYANNIS, Mass. -- For most teams, putting up 55 points in any particular game is a noteworthy performance.

Through two weeks of the MIAA football season, No. 4 Barnstable has made it commonplace with a pair of identical 55-point scores.

Their latest victim? Backyard rival Dennis-Yarmouth in a 55-14 thumping Friday night at Barnstable High, which was our first Massachusetts Army National Guard Game of the Week.

A capacity crowd watching Red Raiders quarterback Nick Peabody dazzle, going 15 of 18 for 350 yards and four touchdowns, including a 98-yard bomb to Dylan Morris in the first quarter.

For his efforts, Peabody was named our Player of the Game.
