On Friday, May 15, the lacrosse programs of Blackstone Valley, Grafton, Northbridge and Westborough will come together again to compete in youth, junior varsity and varsity level games in a joint benefit for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the U.S. Army Emergency Relief Fund (AER).
Admission will not be charged to the games; instead donations will be collected at the gate in the name of the four programs. The donations to the AER will be given in honor of the late Corporal John Dawson, a Blackstone Valley graduate from Whitinsville, who was killed in action in Afghanistan while serving with the 101st Airborne Division.
During the last three years of the event, more than $9,900 has been raised for charities including the Boston One Fund and Dana Farber.
Here's the schedule of events:
Grafton High School Turf Field Complex
Grafton vs Westborough, 5 p.m.
Northbridge vs Blackstone Valley Tech 7 p.m.
JV level games between the four schools will start in the afternoon with Northbridge vs. BVT at 3 p.m. and Grafton vs. Westborough at 3:30 p.m., on adjacent fields.
There will also be 2 MBYLL Select level games, along with two half-time exhibition matches featuring youth lacrosse players from Grafton, Northbridge and Westborough.
