Avon's Marshall nets 2,000th career point

2/29/2012

Avon senior Saleek Marshall became the 62nd player in the history of Massachusetts to surpass the 2,000 career point mark, tonight in the Panthers' 69-63 win over South Shore Voke in a Division 4 South First Round matchup.

Marshall finished with 28 points in the win, and now sits at 2,012 for his career.

Marshall needed 16 points for the mark headed into tonight's contest, and is now the second player in the MIAA to surpass 2,000 this winter. Andover's Nicole Boudreau hit the mark earlier this month, and has since passed Chris Vetrano to become the school's all-time leading scorer.

Even more impressive, Marshall is the third Avon player in the last six seasons to score 2,000 career points, joining Kevin Miranda (2007) and Shante Dezrick (2010). Current Dean College freshman guard Deric McCottrell started his career at Avon, but finished at St. Sebastian's, scoring his 2,000th point with the Arrows last season.
