Former Boston Latin School hockey standout Conal Lynch committed to Tufts University this weekend.
Lynch, who's playing a postgraduate year at Phillips Andover this year, will enroll at Tufts in the fall and join the Jumbos for the 2013-14 season.
“Tufts really just came naturally to me,” the Charlestown native told ESPN Boston Sunday night. “I know people who have graduated that had great experiences and also people who go there now having good experiences. When their coaches offered me the chance to be part of the school and program I had to decide between Tufts and a few other NESCAC schools. I went with my gut and I know I made the right decision.”
In his senior season with the Wolfpack, Lynch captained Latin to a DCL/MVC Division 2 league title. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound forward finished second among all MIAA Division 2 scorers last year with 35 goals and 18 assists for 53 points. Lynch was also an ESPN Boston All-State second-team selection last season.
