The Warriors knocked off Westwood -- the MIAA's defending Division 1 state champ, and the No. 1 team in ESPN Boston's statewide preseason poll -- in the season-opener on April 2, and have since followed with convincing wins over archrival Acton-Boxborough (19-4) and South Shore power Norwell (21-14). For its efforts, L-S comes in this week at No. 49.

Andover, coming off wins over Central Catholic and Framingham, move up three spots to No. 42 this week. Westwood, which was previously ranked No. 30, was promptly dropped from the poll.

Also representing New England on the poll this week are Connecticut powers Darien (20) and Wilton (43).

ESPNHS updated its national "FAB 50" girls lacrosse poll for week three, and the same locals remain on tap.

Westwood moves up three spots to No. 30, while Andover drops one spot to No. 45, while Connecticut powers Darien (21) and Wilton (50) remain on the countdown.

At the time of the polling, Westwood and Andover had still yet to begin their seasons, so there is likely some change on the way for next week's poll. Lincoln-Sudbury knocked off Westwood in a 13-12 thriller on Monday to open the season, while Andover crushed archrival Central Catholic 14-3 under the lights for its own season-opener.

ESPNHS unveils its preseason national "FAB 50" poll for girls lacrosse, and there are several local teams represented.

Defending Connecticut Class M champion Darien comes in at No. 23, with some high praise:

Darien is the defending Class M champ. It enters the 2012 season without losing much from last year's team. The Blue Wave had three freshman start on midfield last year: Dillion Schoen, Hollis Perticone and Emily Stein (Northwestern), who totaled 38 goals and 18 assists last season. ESPNHS Top 50 junior attacker Taylor Hardison and ESPNHS 100 top defensive midfielder Emily Tropsa (Gettysburg) lead the way in 2012.

Defending Massachusetts Division 1 state champ Westwood also comes in at No. 36 on the countdown, while Andover, Lincoln-Sudbury and Wilton (Conn.) were also receiving votes.
