S Brandon McGowan – 11 of 58
S Pat Chung – 9 of 58
(Snaps includes one offensive holding penalty and one neutral zone infraction that technically are not plays.)
ANALYSIS: Eight defensive backs were part of a rotation, with the most noticeable change coming at safety with Sanders replacing McGowan, whose playtime has been reduced significantly the last two weeks. Sanders brings a calming, communicative presence to the back end. … Springs, who started at left corner, came off the field in sub packages and also was spelled by Wilhite at times in base packages. … At strongside inside linebacker, Seau rotated with Guyton in the base defense, with Guyton playing in sub packages. … Banta-Cain and Woods started at outside linebacker, with Ninkovich the third man in. … Ninkovich, Banta-Cain and Burgess were the edge rushers in sub packages. … In a bit of a surprise, Adams was the backup nose over the more experienced Wright, who played backup left end and was an interior sub rusher. … Elsewhere up front, Green saw extended time as he started at right end and stayed on the field in sub packages as an interior rusher.
