With this year's Pro Bowl being played the Sunday before the Super Bowl -- a change from years past -- many players are en route to Miami today for practices.

The Patriots will have nose tackle Vince Wilfork, safety Brandon Meriweather and guard Logan Mankins in the game. Wilfork departed this morning for the trip.

In an attempt to increase interest in the Pro Bowl, the league is trying something new, having the game in the same site as the Super Bowl instead of in Hawaii. Part of the idea is that many media members will be in town, which could drum up more interest.

One challenge for the league, however, is the high number of players who back out of the game because of injuries.

It will be interesting to see how it works.

Compared to other professional sports, football seems to have the biggest struggle with its all-star game.
